Case Study: CC006: CORROGLASS 600, ARMAGEL, PLASMET ZF AND CORROTHANE AP1 TEAM UP TO BRING NEW LIFE TO A POWER STATION PIPESPOOL

Pipe Section Refurbishment

Four products from the Corrocoat range were used in the refurbishment of a 1200/1000mm pipespool from a Scottish power station.

The Solution

To begin, the pipe section was blasted to SA2½ to achieve a surface profile of at least 50μm, and following a blow down, sweep and vacuum clean Corroglass 600 was applied to the internals at the required 750μm DFT.

Once cured and spark tested Armagel was applied to a DFT of 1250μm to provide resistance to both chemical attack and abrasion.

The external profile of the pipe section was then coated with Plasmet ZF followed by a topcoat of Corrothane AP1 for a high gloss protective finish. The images show the pipe section on arrival and after the full refurbishment program was completed and the section was prepared to be shipped back to the client for many more years’ active service.
