Impelled to rebuild

Towards the end of last year our Israeli partners, Mendelson Infrastructures and Industries Ltd took delivery at their workshop of a 28” vertical pump assembly from Mekorot – the national water company of Israel.

The pump had been operating continuously – producing 2400m3/hr with a 90m head; the pumped water was for domestic use but was non potable. Upon inspection the impellers were found to be in a poor condition. They had suffered erosion corrosion resulting in a significant loss of material on the impeller blades leading to a total loss of performance.

The refurbishment team rebuilt the impellers to an extremely high standard using Corroglass 600 series coating followed by a top coat of Fluiglide. The repaired bowl assembly was returned to Mekorot for the rebuild and recommissioning of the pump. As a result of the repair and the Fluiglide coating the pump ran at a higher efficiency rate than the original pump manufacturer’s design. Needless to say, the customer was delighted with the results.
